Read this before you use Thoughtox for anything serious. It is short, plain, and written to be useful — not to protect us from liability.

Thoughtox is not crisis care and is not monitored in real time.If you may act on thoughts of self-harm or harm to someone else, contact local emergency services or a crisis line now. India: 112. US: 988 or 911. Global help directory: findahelpline.com.

Thoughtox Is Not Therapy

Thoughtox is a private writing and reflection tool. It lets you save entries and, if you choose, request a short AI reflection on what you wrote. That is all it does.

It is not therapy. It is not psychiatric care. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. It cannot replace a therapist, psychiatrist, counsellor, GP, or any other mental health professional.

What the AI Actually Does

When you ask for reflection, your text is sent to OpenAI to generate a short response based on what you wrote. It may include a brief acknowledgment, a short reflection, and sometimes a question to think about.

These outputs are pattern-matching on language. The model has no knowledge of your full history, no ability to assess your actual condition, and no authority to tell you what is true about your mental health.

Do not make medical, legal, or safety decisions based on anything Thoughtox generates. Treat it as optional reflection, not advice.

Crisis Detection

Thoughtox may pause AI reflection when writing suggests immediate danger and show help-now resources instead. This is only a limited automated safety step. It is not clinical triage and it will miss some situations.

If you are in crisis, do not wait for the app to detect it. Reach out directly:

No Clinical Claims

Thoughtox makes no claim — express or implied — to prevent, treat, diagnose, cure, or mitigate any mental health condition, psychiatric disorder, or medical condition. No feature of the product should be interpreted as a clinical intervention.

Any summaries, reflections, or history views are descriptive displays of your own writing. They are not measurements.

A Note on Using This Tool When You're Struggling

Thoughtox can be useful when you're in a hard place — it gives you somewhere to put things that are difficult to say out loud. But a tool that processes text through an AI is not the same as being heard by another person. If what you need right now is connection, support, or someone who can actually respond — please reach out to someone. A friend, a family member, a helpline, or a professional.
